Any Dog’l Do

 About the rescue -

Any Dog'il Do Rescue are based in Edinburgh where we have access to private kennel space. We have foster homes within a 2 hour travel limit from Edinburgh and re-home our lucky dogs over this area. We are a small independent charity run by a small group of volunteers who give up their spare time to do what they love -saving dogs. We don't get government funding like the big charities. We rely solely on donations from our amazing supporters. Our volunteers work super hard to raise funds through donations, competitions, raffles, auctions, fundraisers and much more. The donations allow us to try and save as many dogs as possible. We rescue dogs from pounds as well as taking on owner surrenders. Once the dog is in our care we assess them and their needs and also do a health check. If the dog requires any treatment we will do this while they are in our care. This can be a costly process sometimes costing thousands of pounds however the dogs health and welfare is our main priority. We then place the dog in a foster home for further assessment in a home environment. Some dogs who are rescued from the pound may not have experienced the comfort of a house before and therefore need a lot of patience and understanding. While the dog is in foster we provide bedding, bowls, toys etc. We also cover all costs for food and veterinary care. If the dog requires nuterring this will also be done in foster. The fosterer will be fully supported by a dedicated co-ordinator as well as being part of our foster group on Facebook where they get to share updates of the dog and share any hints and tips along the way. Once the dog is fully assessed they will then be available for adoption. We will post their album on Facebook and our website and hope that we get lots of enquiries for them. We then select the best matched enquiry and contact them to carry out a home check. If they are successful we then arrange a meet and offer them the opportunity to initially foster the dog leading onto adoption. Once the dog is adopted, we add the adopters to our forever home Facebook page where they are free to post as many updates as they like. We love seeing how the dogs are getting on...even years down the line. And of course we are always there for support even once the dog has been adopted. We never discriminate against any dog and have saved various dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages who just need some TLC. We offer all our dogs full rescue back up for the rest of their lives. This means that if any adopter, even years later, is no longer able to look after their dog for any reason, the dog will come back into our care. We are fully committed to ensuring the dog has the best life possible 🐾🧡💙

Adopters story -

Our 6 months of Joy

I cannot say enough good things about Any Dog’ll Do Rescue. We were aware of the Rescue for a number of years before fostering and adopting with them. After the passing of my last dog whom I had loved from a puppy, I always intended on going through a Rescue for the next addition to our family. It took some time for us to be ready for another dog, but we met with the team at an event and started the process to be on their records. It did not take long before we'd completed the home check and it was only a matter of weeks before we were contacted to see if we were in position to take in a dog as a foster. They had a small dog who was in desperate need, straight from the pound. No chip or owner and these dogs only get a week to be rescued. So on day 7, he was indeed rescued. As a result of being picked up by the dog warden we had no history but we agreed to give him the chance he neededas we knew we would be supported every step of the way. He was brought up to Scotland by some amazing people and I met him at the top of my driveway. Not the normal way of doing things but in this case it was the way out needed to happen to avoid him going to kennels. He was nervous, as you'd expect but at the same time, very trusting - which is a testament to the team of pound pullers and volunteers. The warden who picked him up off the streets or wherever he was had him listed as a 1 year old terrier cross, and had donned him Scruff. The team who alerted ADDR thought Fred suited him more so that's how we knew him – Fred the Scruff seemed to really suit him and that's his full name, Fred for short. He had some bad matting in his fur and to my surprise, puppy teeth! It turns out Fred was only 6 months old. Confirmed at his first vet visit that was fully covered by ADDR as well as his Health check, Vaccinations and Microchipping. The food cost was offered to us too but we opted to pay for all his other needs – but know that as a foster, this is not expected of you. Deep down as soon as I saw this wee man, he was with me forever. He snuggled into my beard for reassurance from day one (and still does) and my heart melted. He was neutered (cost also covered by the rescue) and after 4 weeks, we were officially a Foster Failure family as we became the adopters of Fred the Scruff. It has been so rewarding, helping him overcome fears from whatever happened to him in his first 6 months of life and letting him learn what joys the world brings. I often wonder who really rescued who, as every day he puts numerous smiles on my face and makes me laugh. I can't say it's been easy. A rescue dog is hard work – and so are puppies! – but the rewards are real and huge. We still get support from the rescue and we are both looking to see how we can help out to help the other dogs and the people who take the dogs on. Taking an ADDR dog into your family is like extending your own family to the other dogs and their fosterers and adopters too. The community feel is fantastic. We have had play days and meets to help socialise Fred and everyone is amazing. To end on a little story, today was the estimated birthday of Fred- we will never know for sure, but let's face it, he's got his “birthday”, his rescue day and his adoption day to celebrate every year. For his birthday, we took him to the beach for the very first time. This dog avoids puddles and has only just learned mud can be fun so we honestly did not know what to expect. Let's just say, Fred was at one with the breeze. He ran faster than I'd ever seen him run, bounced all over that beach and even had a dabble in the Firth of Forth. Looks like he's found a new favourite place.

Paul and Fred the Scruff.
